The Algarve Bike Challenge is a demanding yet rewarding 3-day stage race. With a fresh new route each edition, it’s a great test of endurance, resolve and skill with the staggering beauty of the Algarve’s sunshine landscape set as the perfect antidote to the physical and mental demands of off-road racing. Solo or in Two-person teams, top elite riders and ambitious amateurs alike, explore the seemingly endless, amazing trails, staying overnight in double rooms in Tavira by the sea – an unforgettable Portuguese experience!

Tavira has proved to be the perfect host city for an event as the Algarve Bike Challenge. For the next edition we will maintain the headquarters in this marvelous city and we will continuing to offer the top quality services that make this event so popular, with excellence in accommodation, security, outstanding scenic trails and all the particular details prepared by the Organization which makes the Algarve Bike Challenge so unique and special.

After 11 successfully editions we will give it all to make 2025 even better!

In this event, the Organization take care of all details for the riders and companions during their stay in Tavira, Algarve. From accommodation in 4 star hotels, to the tasty and delicious Portuguese cuisine, race preparation, massage, companion activities and of course the race participation. Deluxe services that have delighted the participants along this editions among the amazing region natural beauty and the epic thrilling courses.

This event offers the best services for the performance and comfort of participants and also itineraries of genuine mountain bike.

The structure of this Race will provide everything that is necessary from water, food, accommodation, technical support while riders care only about their passion, RIDING A BIKE!

In order to full fill this unforgettable weekend riders can choose to accommodate in one of the two amazing 4 star official hotels exclusively for the race. In both Hotels it will be provided mechanical assistance, sport massages, 24H Secure Bike Park and a lounge area.

There will be seven categories in the race in solo and Team option.

The riders in the Algarve Bike Challenge race in their respective category.

Team members can be of different age and gender.

At the Checkpoints (CP) and at the Finish line, the team members must be together in order to have their time validated. It’s considered the time of the second rider passing the point.

The category is defined by the age of the younger rider. There is a minimum of five teams subscribed and confirmed per category. If by the subscriptions closure time there is a category with less then 5 teams confirmed, the category will not be considered and those teams are integrated in a major category (p.e. if there are 3 master women teams subscribed, those teams will be considered in the women’s category)

  • Open Men: Both riders are male and the younger have less than 40 years old. 
  • Women: Both riders are female and the younger have less than 40 years old. 
  • Master Women: Both riders are female and have more than 40 years old of age on December 31st in the year the race take place.
  • Masters: Both riders are male and have more than 40 years old of age on December 31st in the year the race take place.
  • Grand Masters: Both riders are male and have more than 50 years old of age on December 31st in the year the race takes place.
  • Mixed: One male and one female rider and the younger have less than 40 years old. 
  • Master Mixed: One male and one female rider and both have more than 40 years old on December 31st in the year the race takes place.

Minimum age: all participants must have at least 19 years old on December 31st in the year the race takes place.

Participants with E-Bikes will no be allowed for the next edition, except crew members or accredited media.

Light or Premium Package

You have 2 subscription packages available. The light and the premium package (exclusive for Team of Two entries). The premium includes two accommodation in one of the awesome Vila Galé hotels in Tavira. You can add extra night before or after the race and bring your family.
